Suffolk is my life-long home and I have always felt incredibly lucky to live here. This amazing county is host to such a vast array of history, beauty, wildlife and industry that it is hard not to fall in love with it every day.
We are a county of food producers, artists, musicians, chefs, creatives and entrepeneurs. There is so much to celebrate and that’s exactly why I started this blog.
Sampling Suffolk is a showcase of things to do, places to go and what to eat and drink. Whether you’re a long-stay resident like me or a new visitor there will hopefully be something here to catch your eye and inspire.
About me:

After beginning my career as a Teacher; in 2016 I took the leap and followed my passion for local producers and found myself on a sharp learning curve. I made the move from the classroom to coffee and immersed myself in the local food and drink industry before eventually becoming a freelance writer & consultant. Now living the dream in the Suffolk Countryside; growing, cooking and sampling as many foodie treats as I can get my hands on.
The blog is an outlet for my love of writing as well as a place for my musings, to promote the producers and venues I feel so passionately about. It’s my love letter to my home county of Suffolk and a great excuse to get out and get sampling!
Suggestions:
I am always open to ideas and inspiration so please leave a comment to suggest places to visit or products to try. I would love to hear from you!
Additionally, I do accept commissions, collaborations or samples from brands which I feel reflect the interests of my readers.

Disclosure:
Sampling Suffolk is my own personal blog, written and edited by me. I follow the Bambi school of thought whereby if I don’t have anything nice to say; I won’t say anything at all. My aim is to promote local businesses, venues, producers and industry so you won’t see any gratuitous negativity here!
Sometimes I will be asked to write about a brand, venue or product. If an item has been gifted I will tag the article ‘gifted’ and will never publish a viewpoint I don’t whole-heartedly stand behind.
Some links within the blog are affiliated, which might mean I recieve a small commission if suggested items are purchased by readers. Articles containing these links will always be tagged ‘affiliate.’ I will not recommend products which I personally have not sampled.
Hi there, I’ve really enjoyed your articles and comments. I would love to invite you to eat at our Pub ‘The Turks Head’ in Hasketon. Using local produce is really important to us and we put a real effort into our vege offering.

Hi Clare, Thank you for your kind comment. I’ve had a very enjoyable peruse through your blog too. Lovely to read a fellow Suffolk-dweller’s posts 😀
Thank you, Jess 🙂 🙂
Love your philosophy of not spreading negativity, it is so important to be positive.
I moved to Suffolk in 2013, totally in love with this place, so much so that I have written two books
about my experiences and a lot about the Suffolk folk/pub scene including lots of tales from the
fabulous White Horse in Sweffling. They have one of my books in their pub, it’s called “Come in at
random in any key you like”, so if you are there take a look, I think you might like it.
Thanks Sue! I’m a proud champion of small and independent business and we’re so lucky in Suffolk to have so many and such qualiity. I’m a huge fan of the Sweffling White Horse so I’ll be sure to have a nosey at your book next time I’m there.
