This week The Cosy Club launch their Christmas menu. A few weeks ago when the weather was much less wintry and I was feeling far from Christmassy I went along with some friends to sample the new Cosy Club festive menu. It was a hard-sell to get this notorious Grinch into the Christmas spirit, especially in October when the sun was still shining but they nailed it!
Read my review if you’re thinking of celebrating the party season with The Cosy Club this year.
Starters
Since there was a group of us we did the sociable thing and shared some platters of festive treats. Christmas isn’t Christmas without pigs in blankets and there was a generous helping of those. There were also some delicious sweetcorn fritters, marinated pork belly, mushroom tapenade and two baked camemberts – a nicely varied selection to get our taste buds warmed up!
Mains
I opted for the halloumi & vegetable wellington while husband Dan picked his trusty restaurant favourite; pork belly. Both were delicious, hearty and filling winter dishes. Mine came with winter vegetables (including the obligatory Christmas sprouts) and a delicious jus which was the shiniest I’ve ever seen! The pork belly was tender and accompanied with dauphinois potatoes and amazing braised red cabbage.
Desserts
There were so many delicious-sounding desserts on the menu that it was a struggle to choose. Luckily I was with a generous group of food-sharers so we all passed spoonfuls around the table. Each one was delicious but my personal favourite was the limoncello cheesecake which was sweet and indulgent whilst just being tart enough to be refreshing after the rich main course.
Drinks
As happens when you’re in good company; the drinks were flowing! Some of us made a fairly dogged attempt to work our way through the cocktail menus. Everything sounded good (they’re cocktails, right?) so we decided to challenge our obliging waiter to bring us each a ‘surprise cocktail.’ We were never disappointed – they were all stunning to look at and tasted just as good. The designated drivers were well looked after too; having a series of ‘surprise mocktails’ arriving too!
A Great Evening
I have already admitted I wasn’t feeling very Christmassy…. but as soon as I arrived there was a cup of mulled wine in my hand. Things started to improve from there….
Every waiter or staff member we spoke to was great: accommodating, helpful and genuinely lovely. The food was delicious, the cocktails were an absolute win and even I got into the festive spirit! Thank you, Cosy Club!
The Cosy Club Chritmas Menu runs from 22nd November – 24th December at £27.95 for 3 courses. Bookings can be made here.
